Virginia Beach Surf & Rescue Museum
The Virginia Beach Surf and Rescue Museum is the nautical history museum dedicated to coastal rescue missions, the history of the Virginia Beach coastal community, and shipwrecks off the coast. This typical beach style white clapboard space holds several excellent exhibits, educational programs, special events, and one of the best nautically themed gift shops around!
The exhibits you will see inside honor and preserve the history of Virginias oceanfront and water-related heritage, with such topics as Local Surf Legends, Lifegaurds then and Now, Super Storms, and Virginia Beach in WWII.
There are 3 specific group tours you may opt in for, all of them lasting an hour: Surf and Rescue, Scavenger Hunt, and Shipwrecks and Ghost Lore (walking tour). Of course, you could always request a customizable tour for your school group or ask for an educational program.
One of our favoirte aspects about this museum is the Virginia Beach Ghost Walk they offer, a look back into 1920's era Virginia Beach, including a ghost hunt in a 1903 'haunted' building. These tours last anywhere from 75-90 minutes!
