The Stourbridge Line
All aboard The Stourbridge Line, the Poconos region's very own vintage recreational railroad line!
Operated by the Delaware Lackawaxen & Stourbridge Railroad Company, or DL&S for short, The Stourbridge Line offers a seasonal schedule with limited weekday and weekend service and events from Presidents Day through the fall foliage season. The rides offered during this season allow you to 'enjoy 25 miles of historic railroad winding through northeastern Pennslyvania along the Lackawaxen River Valley'.
It all started in 1829 when the Stourbridge Iron Lion was first tested, starting a new era in commercial transportation. Your group will learn more about the history as well as experience the modern beauty of the railroad during your ride, of which you will have several different choices. Here are just a few options, not counting special holiday rides.
- Pocono Express - 1.5 hour round trip
- Glen Eyre - 2.5 hour round trip
- Ice Cream Express - 2 hour round trip
- Lackawaxen Express - 2 hour round trip
You can meet the train in either the Honesdale or Hawley stations. You will be seated aboard restored historic coaches that allow you to 'explore how relaxing rail travel was during the 1920s to 1950s'. Sit within one of the 2 20s-era Open Window coaches, the Table Car, or the 1950's coach 'streamlined' cars.
