The Estuarium
Through beautiful visual exhibits and engaging interactive exhibits, the Estuarium will leave you with a broader understanding of the interactions that take place in Mobile Bay, the fourth largest estuary system in the United States.
The Estuarium at The Dauphin Island Sea Lab is an exciting and highly educational public aquarium that showcases the plants, animals, and other natural resources found in the Estuary and its surroundings. An integral part of the Dauphin Sea Lab, the Estuarium highlights 4 key habitats of coastal Alabama; Mobile Tensaw River Delta, Mobile Bay, Barrier Islands, and Northern Gulf of Mexico.
During your visit your group will explore these 4 areas educationally through the over 31 aquariums throughout the facility, totaling to over 30,000 gallons and over 100 different species. See a 10,000 square foot Exhibit Hall, the 7,000-gallon Stingray Touch Pool, and take a stroll along the Living Marsh Boardwalk.
Each first and third Wednesday of the month there are Boardwalk Talks at The Estuarium with educators and experts in marine wildlife and habitats, and during the summer you have a good chance of catching a Summer Excursion to either a Salt Marsh, Beach Dune, or Maritime Forest. Educators will have access to K-12 curriculum resources and activities during their visit, as well, to further your learning experience.
