How Do You Get Students to Wear Seat Belts on School Buses?
AUGUST 22, 2018
Adventure Student Travel is proud to work with SYTA, the Voice of Student and Youth Travel, and we are both always looking for ways to ensure student safety while traveling.
Let's face it, getting kids to buckle up on the bus is oftentimes a daunting, if not impossible task. Most students can't be bothered to click it while they are chatting with friends and planning their school day/field trip/evening at home.
Our go-to travel safety consultant Michael Bowers has a few reasons why getting kids to buckle up is very important, regardless of how difficult it may be.
In his article, he discusses the tragic New Jersey bus crash of 2018 that took 2 lives, the following Senate-approved bill requiring restraints on buses moving forward, and how to implement this requirement in the future. His solution? Seat belt buzzers! Read more about this idea in the full article on the SYTA site here.
Students should better understand that they could reduce their chance of serious injury or death by half, simply by using the seat belts provided. - Bowers
