Ripley's Aquarium Myrtle Beach
Of Ripley’s Believe It or Not fame, the Ripley’s Aquarium in Myrtle Beach is a highly interactive accredited aquarium where all of your favorite marine animals find their home. From Ray Bay where you can touch stingrays and watch as divers feed these gentle creatures to Dangerous Reef where you can see a giant sand tiger shark swim above the walkthrough tunnel, Ripley’s Aquarium is a hands-on educational environment filled with exciting encounters.
At Rio Amazon, you can see what piranhas really look like and see tiny but extremely poisonous colorful dart frogs as they hop around their habitats. Kids will adore the Discovery Center where they can hold horseshoe crabs, solve puzzles, and test their knowledge about the oceans of the world. This aquarium isn’t just for the kids, though. Head to the Living Gallery to see the art inspired by some of the most beautiful creatures that call the deep blue sea home. Pacific giant octopus, jellyfish, sea anemones, sea horses and more are featured in colorful portraits in this gorgeous gallery fit for an art museum. Following that, visit the Rainbow Rock exhibit where you can meet Dory and Nemo, Blue Tang and Percula Clownfish, in their natural habitats. Check the dive schedule to see a professional diver jump into the Rainbow Rock tank and swim with the fishes.
Special experiences round out this trip and make it worthy of any Ripley’s museum. Sleep with the sharks on an overnight stay in the aquarium (you’ll be safely outside the tank, of course), take a behind the scenes tour, or even get a makeover to turn yourself into a mermaid, pirate, or sailor at the Fancy Fins boutique.
Ripley’s Aquarium is open daily at 9 am.
