Pearl Harbor Memorial Parade
This massive memorial festival allows your marching band group, choir group, dance/cheer group, or JROTC group to pay your respects to those who lost their lives during the infamous attack on Pearl Harbor. Not only that, but your group will also learn more about the personal history of those affected, sight-see the gorgeous state forever changed that day, and respectfully perform with several other marching bands/ performance groups throughout the week. This performance opportunity is a truly amazing one, one full of educational opportunities that you will never forget and that your band won’t want to miss.
The biggest events you can perform in during the weekend will typically take place the 6th - 8th of December (December 7th, 1941 is the date to remember). There will be an opening ceremony performance on the 6th, followed by the big parade, followed by a mass performance with students from both Japan and the U.S at the closing ceremony.
The parade route runs down scenic Kalakaua Avenue from Fort DeRussy to the Waikiki Bandshell, the entire string of performers adding up to around 60 different groups. The groups will include other high school marching bands, military bands, dignitaries, and international officials.
Outside of the major ceremonies and performance opportunities offered this week your group should also take this time to tour the history-filled surrounding land, from the USS Arizona to the Pearl Harbor Museum, not to mention all the natural gorgeous scenery along the golden Hawaiian Coast.
