Tampa Museum of Science and Industry
Tampa’s premier learning and education center is the Museum of Science and Industry, otherwise known as MOSI. Inside you will find over 450 hands-on activities and exhibits featuring space and astronomy, technology, robotics, gaming, and more. MOSI is such a huge playground of fun, most people forget it’s educational! The complex is dedicated to providing a community based, low income, educational resource for all to advance the public knowledge, interest, and understanding of science, technology, and industry. In 2009 MOSI received the National Gold Medal for Museum and Library Service, showing the seriousness and success of its commitment to public knowledge in Tampa.
While here your group will have a multitude of options to explore science, starting with the Touch the Future exhibits that include the Meridian Shuttle, an autonomous vehicle that is driverless and electric, the Drone Zone, and the Idea Zone’s robotic coding area. Next head over to the 3D Printing the Future exhibit, describing how the innovative printers are printing everything from fashion and decor to medical tools and human organs.
You will also have the chance to visit the Saunders Planetarium, Mission Moonbase, or daily Space Talks with Professor Paris. After you’ve explored all you can within the galleries be sure to check out the Florida Hospital IMAX Dome Theater or MOSI Backwoods and Bioworks Butterfly Garden. If you work up an appetite head over to the Everything’s Fresh Market and then the Elements Gift Shop to find unique gifts and scientific souvenirs!
