Be sure to save time to visit the Mississippi River Visitor Center while in the Minneapolis - Saint Paul area, this ecological, cultural, and historical information center located within the lobby of the Science Museum of Minnesota. This center is free, though the museum exhibits and theater will charge admission if you choose to further explore.

The Mississippi River Visitor Center serves as 'the gateway to adventure along the Mighty Mississippi', an introduction center to the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area. This entire protected area is 72 miles, a massive 54,000-acre riverside corridor. While here you will be able to enjoy a wide variety of programs, including videos, interactive exhibits, and junior ranger programs. Explore onsite exhibits that explain the Mississippi River culture, biology, and history.

After your educational adventure head outdoors for a recreational adventure. Your group can hike, bike, canoe, boat, fish, watch wildlife, bird, ski, or snowshoe while here. You can also participate in a ranger program such as Bike With a Ranger or Fish With a Ranger.
