Los Angeles County Museum of Art
If you find yourself on Wilshire Boulevard in the Miracle Mile area of L.A you need to stop by one of the best museums on the west coast, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Also just known as LACMA, this museum has a resident spot on Museum Row and sits near La Brea, always easy to find with its standout art elements, especially all the gorgeous William Pereira architectural design elements. This art museum is the largest in the western United States, the 20-acre campus taking an average of 2 hours to make it all the way through. Not only will you see diverse collections of art history while here, but you will also be able to participate in and/or view daily events, workshops, symposiums, art classes, camps, and film screenings. There are even concerts here every now and then!
Choose between taking a guided tour with your group or exploring the galleries on your own, the entire museum offering a little bit of something for every interest. Some of the more popular permanent exhibits include TV on Film, Apostles of Nature, Japanese Painting for the Zen Mind, Senses of Time (Africa), and Enigmatic Mage: Indian Art. There are also always fascinating traveling exhibits and special exhibits here at LACMA, some current examples being the highly popular ‘Beyond Bling: Jewelry from Lois Boardman Collection’ as well as ‘CARtoons: The Art of American Car Culture. We’re sure you and your group are going to work up an appetite while exploring this massive museum, so remember there are several restaurant options within the site, such as the Patina Restaurant Group’s grab and go options, the LACMA Cafe’s delicious lunch specials, or the gourmet farm-to-table options at Rays Stark Bar.
