Kildonan Park
Be sure to save some time to explore Kildonan Park during your Winnipeg trip, this urban green space featuring over 99 acres of outdoor recreation and fun.
Walk among some of the oldest and largest trees in Manitoba as you explore all of Kildonan Park's amenities, such as the olympic-sized swimming pool, kid's play structures, picnic areas, onsite eatery, duck pond, soccer field, and more. Some of the guest's favorites here at the park include the Peguis Pavilion, Rainbow Stage, and Witch's Hut, the latter a popular Hansel and Gretel cottage recreation.
The cottage was funded by the local German community in 1970, the round stone structure topped by wooden shakes. Walk through the red door and see the Hansel and Gretel story panels and scenes inside, all from the 1812 Grimm fairy tale.
Take a walk along the Red River or formal gardens while here, or if you are visiting during the winter season take advantage of the toboggan slides and skating pond. When you work up an appetite take advantage of the onsite picnic spots or head to Prairie Cafe, featuring all-day meal options, some favorites including the bison burger, corned beef, fish n chips, poutine, and more.
