High Museum of Art
Not only is it a leading art museum in the southeastern United States, but the High Museum of Art is also a congregation of history, architecture, and artistic expression that spans centuries, connecting Atlanta visitors to the past through an appreciation of human ability. Classic and contemporary art mix throughout the halls and galleries, joining over 15,000 works of art together into a movement of rejoicing, education, and enlightenment.
The High Museum of Art has a significant collection of the 19th-20th century American and European artwork ranging from Rodin to John Singer Sargent, works that defined movements and eras. Picasso, Rembrandt, and Monet grace the walls of the European galleries while the museum's curatorial department has worked to enlighten the African art galleries with archaeological finds, ceremonial masks, fertility figures, and textiles elucidating the construction of tribal society. Folk art to decorative arts to photography and beyond, the visual art of the High Museum is chosen to grant insight into human talent, ability and skill, and the power of the imagination across culture and time.
