Eddie Kendricks Memorial Park
Welcome to the Eddie Kendricks Memorial Park, the historic pop culture hotspot located at the corner of 18th Street and 4th Avenue.
This memorial garden is dedicated to none other than Eddie Kendricks, famous singer from the Temptations. The main attraction here is the bronze sculpture of Eddie, created by local Tuskegee artist Ronald McDowell. This depiction of Kendricks shows him holding his mic, looking upward, and in the midst of belting one of his dreamy 'ooooh's'.
The other members of the Temptations are built into the granite wall behind, as are the names of some of the groups most famous hit songs.
Eddie Kendricks was born here in Birmingham in 1937, became a hit sensation in 1964, and died in 1992. He is buried in Elmwood Cemetery.
