Cuyahoga Valley Railroad
When you take a trip to Cleveland, you don't want to miss a visit to the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad. In existence for over 100 years, visitors will have the opportunity to take a train ride and see a variety of historic sites while enjoying the natural beauty of the area. Students of all ages will have a great time exploring this railroad and learning about its unique history. You will climb aboard a train and ride in a vintage car, watching the Ohio and Erie Canalway unfold along your journey. Visitors will have the opportunity to also see river floodplain and steep cut valley walls and encounter meadowland, pinery, marsh, river, ravine, and wood. The wildlife you will see along the way including beaver, fox, deer, and owl among other native species.
The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad offers tours to its visitors year-round. One of the excursions is known as the National Park Winter Excursion, a really fun and educational wilderness trek. Guests can shop and grab a bite to eat at one of the town's restaurants and then you can resume your ride on the train. Another excursion offered here is known as Bike Aboard. Visitors will ride their bikes on the Towpath Trail and then climb aboard the train for a relaxing ride back to your car. You can also do it in reverse and ride the train on the first leg of the excursion. These programs take place from May through October.
