Como Park Zoo and Conservatory
Explore, Observe, Discover.
With a mission to inspire the public to value the presence of living things in our lives, the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory is at the top of our list for conservation-friendly sites to visit in Minneapolis - Saint Paul.
This zoo and conservatory site sees over 1.9 million guests each year, showing off a wide variety of animals, gardens, and kids attractions within its confines. The zoo is AZA-accredited and the conservatory (Marjorie McNeely Conservatory) is a part of the American Public Gardens Association.
Inside you will see all kinds of animals, from anacondas and arctic foxes to wolves and zebras. Take a Zoo Tour to get in-depth details and behind the scenes looks at the animals, this 2-hour public tour taking place before the zoo opens. You will learn the 100-year history of the zoo, get to feed polar bears and giraffes, and meet the zookeepers during this unique tour experience.
Next visit the various gardens of the zoo and conservatory, including the Bonsai Collection, Orchid House, Palm Dome, Sunken Garden, Fern Room, Excedra, Japanese Garden, and more. You can take a Conservatory Tour to see these gardens up close and personal and learn all about the plants within them.
There are various sculptures throughout the grounds, as well as kid-friendly attractions like the Cafesjians Carousel, Como Town, Leonard Wilkening Children's Gallery, Pollinators Exhibit, and Ribbit Zibit. Grab a bite to eat at Pier 56 or Zobota Cafe before you go, and be sure to pick up a souvenir from Garden Safari Gifts.
