If your group is looking for outdoor adventure, team-building experiences, and local California hands-on history all in one then this is the spot for you! Coloma Resort is a premier lodging and outdoor entertainment spot, located just about an hour northeast of Sacramento itself.
During your stay, your group can choose between tent camping, cabin lodging, or a stay in the onsite Country Cottage, with plenty of options for all types of groups interest level and size-wise. The stay itself will be an experience worth having, the resort located near the South Fork of the American River, but the main draws for us are the onsite recreation and learning options, especially the opportunity to participate in a gold mining class and hands-on experience. Work with gold panning experts as they teach you the ins and outs of panning, guests using salted gold troughs throughout the property. Your group can sign up for a 45-minute class for more in-depth information and instruction, as well.
Aside from panning your students can also participate in an aerial ropes course, white water rafting and tubing, and excellent farm to fork online eating options. In the evening be sure to head to the campfire for local legends and tales, costumed storytellers explaining the lives of Native Americans, Mountain Men, and Gold Miners.
