Cape Cod Lighthouses

The lighthouses of Cape Cod, with their scenic and statuesque facades and historic charm, make any New England trip shine. Each lighthouse has a fascinating and unique personalized history, making wonderful side trips for groups of all ages to enjoy.
One such lighthouse, Chatham Lighthouse, has a 200-year history as a beacon to a once busy seaport. Thomas Jefferson himself approved the first keeper, Samuel Nye, to watch over the surrounding area. The structure was rebuilt in 1841 and today stands with two brick towers, resolute and steadfast.
The Stage Harbor Lighthouse is another fine example of Cape Cod beacons. Constructed in 1880, guests will have the opportunity to enjoy the breathtaking view of Harding’s Beach from the historic lighthouse's tall tower. Race Point Lighthouse, builtin 1816, allows you to spend the night in the keeper’s house as part of the experience or your group can opt for the regular tour of the lighthouse. You will depart from the Coastguard Station and take a two-mile hike to the structure which remains inaccessible by car.
Finally, any Cape Cod lighthouse tour would be remiss without a stop at Monomoy Point Lighthouse. In the summer season, visitors can take a ferry to get to the location as Monomoy was once a peninsula that extended southward from Chatham at the elbow of Cape Cod’s bending arm. The area contains two islands, North Monomoy and South Monomoy, both of which the 1849 Monomoy Lighthouse protected and illuminated.
