Basilica of Saint Mary
Welcome to America's first basilica, the Basilica of Saint Mary.
This absolutely stunning building sits between 16th and 17th streets in downtown Minneapolis. It was designed by architect Emmanuel Louis Masqueray and contains gorgeous stained glass windows, shrines, and onsite art galleries.
During your visit, you will have plenty of opportunities to learn all about this minor Roman Catholic basilica, from inception as America's first to today's offered services and tours. Take a docent-led tour and discover the rich history of the building as you marvel at the awe-inspiring art and architecture throughout. Visit the John XXIII Gallery, walk through the Mary Labyrinth, view the Bells of Saint Mary, explore the Cowley Center and Reardon Rectory, and attend any happening free concerts.
