Ala Moana Center
A shopping excursion in paradise.
Welcome to the Ala Moana Center, the large open-air shopping mall in the Ala Moana neighborhood of Honolulu. This center, owned by the Brookfield Retail Group, is so large that it is actually considered to be the 9th largest shopping mall in the United States and the largest open-air shopping center in the entire world.
First opened in 1959, this upscale, 4-level shopping mall with department stores, boutiques, a food court, and restaurants has been 'Hawaii's Center' for over 60 years now. This piece of land has 'transformed from a swampy parcel of land to Hawaii's premier destination for shopping, dining and entertainment...a favorite gathering place for generations of locals and visitors alike.' There are over 350 retailers to explore inside, with an impressive 160 different dining options to choose from, from fine dining to quick and casual.
The retailers you will find specialize in everything from casual wear to unique Hawaiian surf gear, Aloha shirts, swimsuits, and more. Shop stores such as Bloomingdale's, Neiman Marcus, Target, Abercrombie & Fitch, Chanel, Disney, and much more. When it comes to dining options you will be able to enjoy several sit-down options such as Cho Dang and Shibuya, casual options like Mahaluha Burger and Musubi Cafe, and then countless food kiosks and fast food options within the Makai Market Food Court.
The fun doesn't stop there, as the Ala Moana Center also offers guests entertainment options such as Hula with Aloha and Art Walk, with millions of dollars worth of stunning artwork displayed throughout the center. Groups with kiddos will appreciate the Children's Play Area onsite, and performance groups will want to check out Centerstage, the onsite stage hosting over 800 performances each year, including a daily hula show at 1 pm. The performances range from fashion and music to cultural and community organizations, and everything in between. This is the perfect chance for your group to get in some key performance practice!
