The new National Law Enforcement Museum gives you a “walk in the shoes” experience of what it’s like to work in law enforcement. Hear real officers’ stories about life on the job and learn about the history of American law enforcement.
From night watchmen of the 1600s to contemporary high-tech special investigations, our law enforcement agencies continue to protect and serve our nation with distinction. The National Law Enforcement Museum was developed to tell the history of American law enforcement and to help strengthen the relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
The Museum features immersive and interactive exhibits that examine all facets of law enforcement. A world-class collection of more than 20,000 objects and artifacts includes pop culture toys and games, a comprehensive collection of items from the J. Edgar Hoover estate, and noted objects belonging to such noted lawmen as Eliot Ness and Pat Garrett. Visitors can try their hand at fielding a 9-1-1 emergency, taking part in a decision-making training simulator, seeing what it’s like inside a real interrogation room, or checking out the equipment in a replica police cruiser among the many interactive exhibits. The Museum also offers guided and self-guided tours, STEM-focused educational programs, panel discussions, and special events, hands-on forensics workshops and talks with law enforcement officers.
