Cloud Gate is a well-known sculpture located in Chicago, Illinois. Oftentimes referred to as 'The Bean' due to its bean-like appearance, this sculpture sits inside the very popular Millennium Park. It was created by British artist Anish Kapoor. Cloud Gate is Anish Kapoor’s first outdoor work to be installed in the United States. Anish Kapoor was born in 1954 and is known to be one of the most recognized sculptors in the world.

The sculpture weighs a total of 110-tons, made out of 168 individual steel plates. Its smooth surface is a result of several hours of meticulous polishing. There is a 12-foot arch that “provides a gate” which leads to the concave sculpture.

People of all ages enjoy taking photos of the attraction and getting a breathtaking view of the skyline. The students will be able to see their image from a variety of perspectives. This work was inspired by liquid mercury and is beautiful from all angles.
