Queen Emma Summer Palace
Welcome to the Queen Emma Summer Palace, the historic landmark, museum, and tourist site that served as a retreat for Queen Emma of Hawaii, or Hanaiakamalama, from 1857 to 1885.
The queen lived here with her husband, King Kamehameha IV and son Prince Albert Edward. The 22,750 square feet of grounds now operated and maintained by the Daughters of Hawai'i are situated in the coolness of the Nu'uanu Valley, the home used as a retreat to escape the oppressive heat of Honolulu. The Queen inherited the home from her uncle, John Young the II.
