Minneapolis Institute of Art
Inspiring wonder through the power of art.
First founded in 1883 (built in 1915), the Minneapolis Institute of Art, or MIA, is home to over 90,000 works of art that represent 5,000 years of world history. This fine arts museum displays works ranging from real mummies to European master paintings.
During your group's visit, you will see various displays of the world's diverse cultures, this entire museum a monument to a remarkable history of civic involvement and cultural achievement. The permanent collection here has grown from 800 to 89,000 objects, all sorted into 7 main curatorial areas: Arts of Africa & the Americas; Contemporary Art; Decorative Arts, Textiles & Sculpture; Asian Art; Paintings; Photography and New Media; and Prints and Drawings.
Student groups can take one-hour public tours while here or specific themed tours, MIA being one of the largest art educators in the state. Choose from the field trip tour topics below, then grab a bite to eat with your group at the onsite eatery Agra Culture!
