Henderson Beach State Park
Our family-oriented beach is one of the area's most prized assets. Depending on the season, your beach experience could be highlighted by sightings of dolphins, sea turtles, migratory birds, butterflies and as always a gorgeous sunset
Welcome to the Henderson Beach State Park, the Destin area beach hotspot with over 6,000 square feet of scenic shoreline to explore.
At Henderson Beach State Park your group will be met by 30-foot white sand dunes and warm Emerald Gulf waters. This strip of protected Emerald Coastline was first established for 'the preservation and protection of the area's natural features and for the public enjoyment of the last remaining coastal scrub area in Destin'. The land was bought from the Henderson family in 1983.
While here your group will be able to utilize the gorgeous beach, boardwalk, nature trails, playgrounds, and over 60 campgrounds. Relax, fish, or hike while here, or simply spend your day swimming in the perfectly warm and crystal clear waters. The water temperature is 75 to 80 degrees on average and the unique emerald green color you see is due to the sunlight reflecting off of the white sand along the shore.
While here you will be able to see marine life such as tropical fish (redfish, flounder, pampano), dolphins, and both green and loggerhead sea turtles. Explore the wrack along the shore (sargassum seaweed), and spend some time birdwatching along one of the many nature trails for pelicans, skimmers, or terns. You will also see such wildlife as sand pines, scrub oaks, southern magnolias, dune rosemary, and a variety of local wildflowers.
