Swift-Coles Historic Home
This 1882 Greek Revival Home is not only gorgeous to look at, but also chock full of historic antiques, fully furnished rooms, and stories waiting to be explored.
Charles and Susan Swift, of Swift Lumber Mills, first bought this house, which was then a 4-room cabin, in 1898. They moved their 11 children into the home and made 2 additions to the home by 1910, making it 6000 square feet. In 1976 Nik Coles bought it and started his collection of worldly antiques and trinkets. After Coles died the house was placed on the National Register of Historic Places and now sits as a pivotal piece of Baldwin County History.
Sometimes referred to as the Tidewater Mansion, this historic home will show your group what life was like in the 1900s, in the Gilded Age, and in the South. The mansion sits on 5 acres and is surrounded by breathtaking large magnolias and 150-year-old Live Oaks. Inside you will find antiques from around the world, as docents in vintage style clothing lead you around the home during a guided tour. Any fans of architecture, history, and/or interior design will definitely love this stop!
There are several weddings and special events that happen regularly here, as well, so the house is only open for tours each Tuesday and Friday.
