Sandler Center for the Performing Arts
Opened in 2007, the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts is a gorgeous Virginia Beach performance center that hosts the very talented Virginia Symphony, as well as various ballet and dance groups, live music performances, national touring acts, and musical theater groups. This is an excellent spot to spend an entertaining evening, or even an afternoon if you are interested in a more personal look at the venue and the history behind it.
Behind the Scenes tours allow you to marvel at the architecture up close, learn about all the top-notch amenities throughout, learn a few secrets and interesting history tidbits, and experience the amazing acoustics as you stand on stage yourself. Tours are Tuesdays at 2 PM and in the summer, they are Wednesdays from 5-8 PM during the popular Ynot Wednesday series, which is a 13 weeks series featuring live bands, food, drinks, and a farmer’s market.
Opt-in for viewing of anything in the Great Performance Series if one is happening during your visit, these performances featuring a wide range of world-renowned artists.
Before you leave, whether you are here for a tour or show, be sure to head to the 2nd and 3rd floors and check out the Sandler Center Art Gallery. Regularly changing exhibits adorn the gallery, and outside you can find the Wings Sculpture.
