Musée Mécanique
Welcome to one of the world's largest privately-owned collections of 'coin-operated mechanical musical instruments and antique arcade machines in original working condition', the Musee Mecanique.
This is one of San Francisco's most highly visited blast-from-the-past locations, the bustling old-school storefront located in the heart of the Fisherman's Wharf. Inside the classic red and white facade, your group will find an interactive museum filled with 20th century penny arcade games and artifacts, from antique mechanical instruments to current arcade video games (and, of course, vintage arcade games as well).
The man behind all the glorious game-filled madness is Mr. Edward Zelinsky, his collection beginning at the young age of 11. The museum, or sometimes just referred to as the Zelinsky Collection, has been family owned and operated since 1933, giving it that authenticity that is simply lacking in some more current 'antique' shops.
Zelinsky encourages his guests to 'play and look' all around the place, with over 300 items inside ranging from orchestrions and coin-operated pianos to slot machines and animatronics. Take a walk down memory lane with Laffing Sal or Susie the Can-Can Dancer, take a spin with the hand-cranked music boxes, or lose your mind in some video arcade games for a bit.
No matter what age, interest, or tourism purpose, this stop is sure to please any guest!
